Agro Chemicals Inc. located at 41 Warrens Industrial Park, St. Michael。
1976: Wimcal Limited first opens its doors in a small bond at Oldbury Plantation in St. Philip. In our first year of business we sell just over $500,000 of Agro & Agro related products to local farmers with a few overseas orders.
1979: We move to a larger building located at Uplands in St. John. That year business sales exceed $1,300,000 an increase of 135% over 1976. In that year also, Michael Mahon takes over as Managing Director from Richard Williams.
1987: Wimcal continues to grow in small increments per year reaching a sales total of over $3,500,000. We are however finding it difficult to compete with our main competitor DaCostas Ltd. owned by Barbados Shipping & Trading Co. Ltd.
1990: Wimcal moves from Uplands in St. John to our own building which is constructed for us at 41 Warrens Industrial Park, St. Michael. In that year we strike a deal with DaCostas Ltd. whereby they purchase a 49% shareholding in Wimcal, close their Agro Department, and transfer their stock and distributorships to us. The impact of this is seen immediately as sales almost double.
1998: Wimcal Limited becomes an industry leader and the single largest importer and distributor of Agro & Agro related products in Barbados with over 50% market share.
1999: Barbados Shipping & Trading Co. Ltd. becomes the single largest shareholder of the company with 77.35% ownership, thus making the company a subsidiary of B. S. & T.
2001: Wimcal Limited merges with the Agro Department of T. Geddes Grant (Barbados) Ltd. to form Agro Chemicals Inc. This decision enforces our role as the industry leader in our field with a 66.6% market share.
